Electric Vs. Regular Toothbrushes: Which one is better

We’ve all gone down the toothbrush aisle at the grocery store only to become memorized by the beautiful display of electric toothbrushes that are waving their brushes back and forth. However, with a cost that’s way more expensive than a regular toothbrush and with a lot of hype surrounding their effectiveness, it can be hard to know if you’re buying into something real or just another gimmick.

Electric Toothbrushes

As a quicker approach to using a normal toothbrush, electric toothbrushes cover more surface area without having to spend a lot of time checking to see if you’ve covered every centimeter of your teeth by yourself. Plus by working in an oscillating motion, electronic toothbrushes are the perfect solution to ridding your teeth of an excess of plaque, tartar, and germs that have built up throughout the day.

Regular Toothbrushes

Considering dentists everywhere give their patients a regular toothbrush, these bad boys aren’t going anywhere. Although they may not have all of the bells and whistles as an electronic toothbrush, regular toothbrushes are just as effective. However, it should be noted that using a regular toothbrush requires a bit more time and patience on your end. Just make sure that you are brushing not only your front teeth but that you are brushing your molars as well, so that you can prevent the spread of infection.

When it comes down to it, both electronic and regular toothbrushes are equally as effective at keeping your teeth and ridding it of bacteria that causes infections. However, if you lean a little bit more on the lazy side of the street and aren’t known for being an A+ brusher, then an electronic toothbrush might be the ideal solution for your teeth. However, if you have passed every dental exam with flying colors by using a regular toothbrush, there really is no reason to switch now.
